Jun 3, 2008 · I think it might work if every part in and of itself is engaging and has a storyline that's worth following. Otherwise the reader might DNF long before the end. And you also don't have to wait until the very end to tie the different story strands together. I would say at the beginning of Act 3 or somewhen during Act 3 would be a good place.

It also serves as an excuse to step outside, remove yourself from a social situation for a bit, that kind of thing. A useful device, literary or otherwise.
